Websites, SEO and GEO (AI search) for accountants

I build fast websites for accounting and business-advisory practices that make it easy to choose you and get in touch: a page for each service that answers what business owners ask before they call, your registered agents named and checkable, and a call-back form on every page. The same pages are built to be found on Google and cited in AI answers (generative engine optimisation, or GEO).

In our Australian AI Overview Index (scan of 23 October 2026, 8 accounting questions, 3 runs each), Google showed an AI Overview in 24 of 24 runs, citing about 7.9 sources each. An individual business's own website was among those sources in all 24.

Closest proof: a regulated professional-services firm, 32 to 870 Google clicks (28 days, May vs Oct 2026).

What goes on the site

  • A page for each service (tax returns, BAS and bookkeeping, business structures, advisory), written around the questions owners ask, with what you need from them and how long it takes.

  • Each registered tax agent's profile linked to their listing on the Tax Practitioners Board public register, so a visitor or a search engine can confirm who stands behind the page.

  • Industry pages only where you genuinely have clients in that industry, with what is different about their numbers.

  • A call-back form, a tap-to-call number and a "book a call" link on every page, with each enquiry recorded against the page it came from.

The rules that apply

If you advertise tax agent services, the Tax Practitioners Board's Code of Professional Conduct applies to how you describe them. I write to the rules you give me, and you approve every page before it goes live.

Before changing anything, check what AI answers already say about your practice, and read what GEO actually involves. For practices specifically: how accountants get found in ChatGPT and AI Overviews. And to get the business itself named, not only its pages: how to get your business on ChatGPT, and check whether it is.

What Google's AI Overviews cite for accounting questions

The most-cited source types for accounting questions in the scan of 23 October 2026 (the Index names types, never individual sites):

  • Individual businesses and practices: 24 of 24 AI Overviews
  • Large companies (banks, retailers, software, tax chains): 21 of 24 AI Overviews
  • Government and courts: 16 of 24 AI Overviews

Who does AI name when your clients ask?

The AI visibility dashboard puts questions like these (shown here for Canberra; yours use your city) to ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity and Google's AI every week, and shows which businesses the answers name instead of you:

  • Who is the best accountant in Canberra?
  • How much does an accountant cost in Canberra?
  • Can an accountant in Canberra help me set up a company?

Today: A$99 for the full check and the first month of your dashboard. Then A$29 a month from day 31; cancel any time before then and you pay nothing more.

Questions your clients ask first

Examples of the questions each page is built to answer. Your list comes from what your own clients ask.

  • Do I need an accountant for a small business tax return?

  • Should I be a sole trader or a company?

  • What does a bookkeeper do that an accountant does not?

  • What does it involve to value a business for sale?
