AI SEO and GEO: get found in Google and AI answers.
I work on your site so Google can find it and AI answers can cite it: a sound site, the pages only your business could write, and a weekly check of what's working. This is SEO plus GEO (generative engine optimisation), and you deal with me throughout.

What does an AI SEO agency do?
An AI SEO agency does SEO, so Google can find and rank your pages, plus GEO: making those pages specific and sourced enough that Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT link them as a source. LayerOps is a one-person agency: I do the work and measure it weekly, from $2,500 a month. No one can guarantee a citation.
Why good businesses go missing
Customers research before they call
For a legal, accounting, health, design or trade decision they search, compare and increasingly ask an AI assistant, often before they've heard of you.
AI answers link a handful of sources
Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT link to pages that answer a question specifically and credibly. Pages that repeat what everyone says tend to be passed over. How pages get cited.
Most business websites read alike
Service pages, a team page, a contact form. They rank for the business's name and still miss the questions customers actually ask. If yours needs replacing rather than fixing, see website builds.
Case study
Results for a regulated professional-services firm, May to October 2026.
32 to 870
Google clicks to the firm's site, 28 days each
28 days to 7 May 2026 (before the work) vs 23 Sep–20 Oct 2026 (Google Search Console).
10 of 12
tracked specialist questions where Google's AI Overviews linked the firm's pages
Scan of 28 Sep 2026. Every scan from 21 Aug to 28 Sep 2026: 8 to 10 of 12. All 35 tracked questions: 13 on 28 Sep.
0 to 136
search terms without the firm's name, averaging page 1 on Google
Search terms with 5+ impressions, 28 days each: 10 Apr–7 May vs 28 Aug–24 Sep 2026 (Google Search Console). Includes a few searches issued by AI assistants.
What the scans suggest: in the scan of 28 Sep 2026, Google's AI Overviews linked the firm on 10 of 12 tracked questions in its specialist topics (8 to 10 in every scan from 21 Aug to 28 Sep 2026) and on none of the 3 broad ones. The specialist pages said things official sources and competitors' pages didn't. That's the kind of page I write.
What the retainer covers
- (01)
A site Google and ChatGPT can read
Clear titles and headings, pages Google can find and index, a quick mobile site, and nothing blocking the crawler ChatGPT's search uses. - (02)
Credentials anyone can check
Each practitioner's profile linked to their public register listing where one exists, and your firm described the same way everywhere search engines look. - (03)
Pages only your firm could write
Two new or rebuilt pages a month: how you work, what it costs if you publish fees, how long things take, and specialist answers. Every specific fact tied to a primary source. - (04)
Measured every week
Your Google clicks and positions, and whether Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT link your pages, on a fixed set of questions we agree. How I measure. - (05)
Enquiries you can trace
Form submissions, phone taps and booking clicks recorded, so you can see which pages lead to enquiries. Also available on its own: enquiry tracking setup. - (06)
Your Google Business Profile
Kept accurate, and consistent with your site and directory listings. Also available on its own: Google Business Profile optimisation. - (07)
Links you earn
Pages worth citing, and complete listings in your profession's directories and registers. - (08)
A weekly report and a monthly call
A short weekly email report, and a monthly call with me (or whenever you want one), not an account manager.
Not included: Google Ads management (I work alongside your ads agency). If your site needs rebuilding rather than fixing, that is a website build, scoped separately.
How it works
Weekly, with nothing published until you approve it.
-
Find the questions
We agree a fixed set of questions your clients ask, and I record who Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT cite for them today, including your competitors. If you start with the audit, this is already done.
-
Fix the foundations
A site search engines can read and trust comes first, because every later page depends on it.
-
Write, check, approve
I draft pages and check every specific fact against a primary source. Drafts come to you before anything goes live under your name. If you edit a draft, the edited version comes back to you once more before it's published.
-
Publish, measure, adjust
Approved pages go live and get linked from the pages that should point to them. Every week I check Google, its AI Overviews and ChatGPT, choose the next week's work, and send you a short report.
Your weekly report
One short email a week: what changed, each figure with its dates; what I did; what's next; and at most one question for you.
Who it's for
Professional and service businesses: law firms, accounting practices, medical, dental and allied health practices, architects and engineers, and trades and local services.
It fits best when:
- your customers research before they call, on Google or by asking ChatGPT;
- they're choosing who to trust, not the cheapest quote;
- someone in the business can review a draft page within a week.
From $2,500 a month, with an exact price in writing after a 15-minute call. You can start with the AI Visibility Audit ($1,500, fixed) instead.

Questions
How long before anything moves?
Months, not weeks. In the case study, clicks began to climb about seven weeks after work started. Google clicks per 28 days went from 32 (to 7 May 2026) to 512 (to 27 Aug 2026) to 870 (23 Sep–20 Oct 2026).
Can you guarantee rankings or AI citations?
No. Google's own guidance says "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google", and AI answers change from one run to the next. I can commit to the work, the measurement, and a report that says plainly what changed.
Do you use AI to write?
Yes. I draft with Claude, Anthropic's model, and check every specific fact against a primary source before the draft reaches you. You approve every page, and each one carries the name of the practitioner who stands behind it, not an AI byline.
We're regulated. Who checks the wording?
You do, or whoever handles compliance for you. I'm not a lawyer or a compliance officer. I write to the advertising rules you give me (Ahpra's advertising guidelines for a health practice, for example), and nothing goes live without your approval.
Is there a lock-in?
SEO and GEO: a 3-month minimum, then month to month with 30 days' notice. Nothing else has a lock-in. You own every account: domain, hosting, Search Console, Google Analytics and the content.
What if you're away?
You own every account (Search Console, hosting, domain). The code and pages are documented and handed over. I take on a limited number of retainers at a time.
Who will I deal with?
Me, Jarek Piotrowski. Unlike at a larger SEO or GEO agency, there's no account manager. 0404 003 240 · jarek@layerops.tech
How I measure, and what I leave out
In short: Google clicks and impressions from Search Console's date view; Google AI Overviews through DataForSEO, 3 runs per question from an Australian location; ChatGPT through Mangools AI Search Watcher, 2 samples per question each scan. The detail:
| What | Source | How it's reported |
|---|---|---|
| Google clicks and impressions | Google Search Console, date view, settled days | Last 7 and 28 days, against the period before and against your starting point |
| Average position | Search Console, weighted by impressions | Same windows. Rank claims come from Search Console or the live results page, never from a third-party rank estimate |
| Search terms averaging page 1 | Search Console query view, your brand removed, 5+ impressions | Count of non-brand search terms averaging position 10 or better |
| Your most valuable searches | Search Console per search, plus a check of the live Google results page | Clicks, impressions, position, and whether you actually show on mobile and on desktop |
| ChatGPT | Mangools AI Search Watcher, on a fixed set of questions we agree at the start, two samples per question each scan | Two numbers: questions where ChatGPT links your page, and questions where it names your firm |
| Google AI Overviews | DataForSEO's Google results API, Australian location, desktop, 3 runs per question | Share of runs where the AI Overview links your site, and which sites it links instead |
| Google Map Pack | The live Google results page for your "[service] + [city]" searches | In or out, per search, with the check date |
| Enquiries | Google Analytics 4 events on forms, phone taps and booking clicks | Counted from the day tracking starts. Nothing before that date is estimated |
| Links | Majestic data, via Mangools | Referring domains, with new links named |
- The technical base. Page titles, headings, canonical tags, crawl and index checks in Search Console, mobile page speed, and a robots.txt that lets Googlebot and OAI-SearchBot (the crawler ChatGPT search uses) reach your pages.
- Structured data. Organization and ProfessionalService markup; a Person entry for each practitioner, linked to their public register listing where one exists (AHPRA or the Tax Practitioners Board, for example); Article markup with a named author; breadcrumbs. Google's guidance is to make sure structured data matches the visible text on the page.
- Totals come from Search Console's date view. The query view leaves out rare searches, so adding it up undercounts clicks and impressions.
- AI answers are checked more than once, because they change from run to run. Google AI Overview checks run three times per question; ChatGPT answers are sampled twice in each weekly scan.
- Not measured: Perplexity, the Gemini and Copilot apps, and Claude, so the report says so rather than guessing. Google AI Mode isn't in the default set; I can add it.
- FAQ markup. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026, and says there's no special structured data you need to add to appear in its AI features. I add markup where it accurately describes the page, and I don't sell it as a fix. The field note.
- Links. I don't buy them.
Jarek rebuilt how we show up on Google and in AI answers. Our Google clicks went from 32 to 870 a month, and every page was fact-checked and signed off by us before it went live.
